Economic Conditions Having Negative Effect On Consumers,
According To Decision Analyst Study
Arlington, Texas—Economic conditions are having a negative impact on
Americans' healthcare and general well-being, according to a recent study by
Decision Analyst, a leading international marketing research and marketing consulting
firm. In a recent online survey of 3,000 U.S. adults, Decision Analyst asked
participants to describe how their "personal economic condition is impacting
their health or health-related activities." Decision Analyst tracks the
health and nutritional behaviors and attitudes of the U.S. population on a continuous
basis through its Health and Nutrition Strategist™ study.
Among the findings, 12% of respondents said they’ve stopped buying their
prescription medications on a regular basis, and 42% of women and 37% of men
said they are putting off visits to the doctor or dentist.
"Economic conditions are causing consumers to postpone medical care, lose
sleep, and select cheaper, less healthy foods," said Diane Brewton, Senior
Vice President at Decision Analyst who heads up the Health and Nutrition Strategist™
study. "Should these trends continue, consumers' long-term health will
be impacted negatively by both increased stress levels and delayed medical treatment."
