Decision Analyst Announces the Launch of the 2019 American Home Comfort Study

Decision Analyst is proud to announce the launch of the 2019 American Home Comfort Study (AHCS). This syndicated study will follow our 2016 AHCS plan, including trended data from both the 2016 and 2013 studies.
The AHCS is a primary-research study among homeowners who made the decision to purchase HVAC equipment for their primary residence in the previous two years, including central air conditioners and furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, and mini-splits.
The 2019 AHCS will explore consumer purchasing behaviors during 2017 and 2018. “We ask a battery of more than 100 questions, with over a thousand data points, to explore every aspect of the HVAC purchase process, from initial consideration to installation by the contractor to their ultimate satisfaction with their new unit,” said Mark Teich, the Project Director.
The AHCS is a great resource for any company that needs to know the current view of the HVAC market from the purchasers’ point of view. “The AHCS contains valuable insight into the homeowner’s purchase decision. We follow the trends of homeowners and help guide our contractors into the most effective uses of their marketing dollars,” said Barbara Cox, Senior Director of Marketing at Nortek.
The study also explores participants’ attitudes toward energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and the whole-home performance concept and determines the presence of ancillary HVAC equipment such as thermostats, ductwork, and fans in the home.
With a participant base of about 2,500 recent HVAC buyers, the 2019 AHCS report will provide a valid and reliable read on consumers’ perceptions regarding their HVAC purchases. When combined with a similar number of participants from each of the previous study waves, the trended data will reflect the impressions of more than 7,000 HVAC purchasers over the past eight years, enabling Decision Analyst to accurately identify major consumer trends in the HVAC marketplace.
The 2019 AHCS report will be available in Summer 2019. The 2016 AHCS report will be available at a discounted price until the 2019 version is published.
