In Reversal From One Year Ago,
Preteens Now Say U.S. On "Wrong Track,"
According to Decision Analyst/Hypothesis Group Survey
ARLINGTON, Texas-By a large margin, America's preteens are not happy with the
state of their nation, according to a nationwide survey by Decision Analyst and
Hypothesis Group.
When asked whether the nation is on the "right track'' or "wrong track,'' 63
percent of respondents 9 to 12 years old said the nation is on the wrong track.
It is a complete reversal from last year, when 63 percent of preteens said the
nation was on the right track.
This spring Decision Analyst and Hypothesis Group, two leading marketing
research firms, completed their second annual "Hot Or Not?'' survey measuring
attitudes of preteens toward celebrities, products, brands-and the nation at
large. Conducted by Decision Analyst and Hypothesis Group, this year's survey
was based on a statistically balanced sample of 1,026 preteens 9 to 12 years
old. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percent.
Comments from those who said the nation is on the right track included the
following: "Because George Bush rocks,'' "Life is good in the USA,'' and
"Things are going okay.''
