Workers Are Steadily Becoming More Worried About Their Jobs
According to Decision Analyst's Job Anxiety Index
Arlington, Texas (May 6, 2005) – Over the past six years job uncertainty
has risen dramatically; that's according to Decision Analyst's Job Anxiety
Index. The Index has steadily risen from a low of 7.1 in January of 2000 to a
reading of 17.8 in April of 2005. Despite the fact that the recession
officially ended over three years ago, job anxiety remains surprisingly
elevated.

The index approximates the percentage of unemployed and under-employed workers,
plus those who are "very worried" about losing their jobs.
"Compared to the Internet boom of 2000 versus today, more people are worried
about their jobs," said Jerry W. Thomas, President and CEO of Decision Analyst,
a marketing research and marketing consulting firm. "On a positive note, the
Index has decreased slightly over the past year."

Methodology
The Decision Analyst Job Anxiety Index is based on a monthly Internet survey of
several thousand households balanced by gender, age, and geography, conducted
from the 20th to the 27th of each month. The Job Anxiety Index is immediately
calculated from unemployment, part-time employment, and job security, using a
sophisticated model. The result is a snapshot of current U.S.
employment/anxiety, as seen through the eyes of representative consumers.
Decision Analyst also conducts concurrent surveys in Canada, the U.K., Germany,
France, Italy, Netherlands, Mexico, and Australia.
