Job Market Dramatically Smaller Than A Year Ago, Workers Say
ARLINGTON, Texas American workers say the availability of jobs in their
communities has shrunk dramatically during the past 12 months, according to a
nationwide survey by Decision Analyst, Inc., one of the countrys leading
marketing research companies.
In a November Internet survey of 1,758 workers, 12.5% of respondents said jobs
were plentiful in their communities. A year ago, 42.7% said jobs were
plentiful, as shown below.
"Across the board, the number of Americans who believe jobs are plentiful
has declined dramatically in the past year," said Jerry W. Thomas,
President/CEO of Decision Analyst, Inc. "Clearly the job market has eroded
badly in the past 12 months. The problem is the domino effect:
fewer jobs mean less money is being spent, which tends to cause more jobs to be
eliminated. For the nations government and corporate leaders, job
creation is critical to pulling the nation out of the recession."
Decision Analyst Inc., founded 25 years ago, provides marketing research
services to Fortune 500 companies, leading private organizations, and
government agencies. The companys November Internet survey has a margin
of error of plus or minus 3%.
