Computers, Vacations Top List Of Major Planned Purchases
Arlington, Texas New computer equipment and vacations top the list of
major purchases planned by consumers over the next 12 months, according to
Decision Analyst, Inc., a leading national marketing research firm.
In its recent Internet survey of 4,430 consumers, Decision Analyst found that
39.8% of respondents plan to buy a new personal computer or computer equipment
for the home over the next 12 months.
This survey was conducted over the Internet via Decision Analysts
online survey panel, where survey participants are paid cash for
completing surveys (typically, $3 to $10).
Those most likely to purchase computer equipment reside in either New England
(42.8%) or Pacific West (41.0%) the survey also shows.
Second on the list of major purchases planned this year is vacations costing
more than $1,000. About 40% (39.7) of respondentswith the highest
percentage living in New England and the Northeastsaid they plan to take
such a vacation.
Other major purchases respondents said they plan to make in the next 12 months
include new furniture for the home (32.5% of respondents), a new car or truck
(22.9%), home remodeling (18.6%), an existing home (10.4%), a newly built home
(3.8%), or a new boat (1.5%).
Decision Analysts national survey of consumer purchase intentions has a
margin of error of plus or minus 2% at a 95% confidence level.
