Netscape Leads All Internet Browsers, Decision Analyst Survey Shows
Arlington, Texas Netscape wins hands down as the nation's most popular
Internet browser, according to a recent survey by Decision Analyst Inc., a
leading national marketing research firm.
In its nationwide survey of 14,562 Internet users, Decision Analyst found that
48% of respondents were using either Netscape 3.0 or 4.0 as their browser. The
second most popular browser, Internet Explorer, was used by 32% of respondents.
"Netscape has lost market share to Microsoft Explorer, but appear to be
holding its own now and maintaining a dominant market sharein a rapidly
growing Internet-browser marketplace." Said Jerry W. Thomas,
President/CEO. "Netscapes success in defending itself speaks to the
value of innovation and the importance of being first."
AOL was being used by 12% of respondents, the Decision Analyst survey shows. AOL
was followed by Web TV, used by 5% of respondents, and unspecified other
browsers used by 2% of respondents.
Its survey of Internet browsers has a margin of error of plus or minus one
percent.
