Netscape Leads All Internet Browsers, Decision Analyst Survey Shows

Arlington, Texas — Netscape wins hands down as the nation's most popular Internet browser, according to a recent survey by Decision Analyst Inc., a leading national marketing research firm.

In its nationwide survey of 14,562 Internet users, Decision Analyst found that 48% of respondents were using either Netscape 3.0 or 4.0 as their browser. The second most popular browser, Internet Explorer, was used by 32% of respondents.

"Netscape has lost market share to Microsoft Explorer, but appear to be holding its own now and maintaining a dominant market share—in a rapidly growing Internet-browser marketplace." Said Jerry W. Thomas, President/CEO. "Netscape’s success in defending itself speaks to the value of innovation and the importance of being first."

AOL was being used by 12% of respondents, the Decision Analyst survey shows. AOL was followed by Web TV, used by 5% of respondents, and unspecified other browsers used by 2% of respondents.

Its survey of Internet browsers has a margin of error of plus or minus one percent.
